Dear GBN Community,
All of our students and staff are safe following a suspended schedule on Monday, May 8, 2023. This message summarizes updates given via text messages, social media and posted on our website regarding an incident at Glenbrook North High School.
Shortly after 11 a.m. the suspended schedule was put in place due to a “swatting call” received at the Northbrook Police Department. A swatting call is a false call that appears to be from a local address but in fact is not. The Northbrook Police Department received a similar message, unrelated to the school district, over the weekend. Public safety gave the all clear at 11:45 a.m. and the suspended schedule was lifted. Public safety remains on the scene as they address the incident.
We want to thank all our students and staff members who followed our emergency operation protocols and remained calm.
Students returned back to their block three classes and if applicable were able to go off campus for open lunch. Students who are taking the AP Computer Principles exam this afternoon will utilize the makeup date for this exam. Testing coordinators will provide additional information about the exams scheduled for this week.
We understand that this can be a challenging experience for our students. In an effort to assist students in processing this event, we encourage them to utilize District 225 resources:
Students who are struggling should be encouraged to go to Student Services or call the office at 847-272-6400. The staff has also been alerted to be mindful of students in their classes who may be experiencing concerns.
