Dear GBS Community—

First, I would like to take a moment to thank all of our Titans for their response and actions during the fire emergency today.  I am proud of the speed by which students evacuated the building, respectfully followed teachers’ directions, patiently waited for information, and cared for each other.

To ensure the safety of students and to keep personal belongings secure, we have the following plan for students to retrieve their materials. Glenbrook South High School will open its doors for students to pick up their belongings on May 5, 2023. Parents will not be allowed in the building. Students should use the schedule listed below:

  • 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. students who need to utilize bus services
  • 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. seniors and siblings
  • 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. juniors and their siblings
  • 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. sophomores and their siblings
  • 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. freshmen
  • 2:30 - 4 pm - any students who are unable to attend their earlier assigned timeslot

Bus services will be provided for students and will follow the late arrival schedule for pick-up. Buses will depart by 11 a.m. to return students to their homes.

Students who have their own transportation to GBS should adhere to the grade level schedule above and enter through the West Entrance (Doors O). Only students will be allowed in the building. Students will sign in and wait in the auditorium to be escorted to get their belongings. Siblings may come together at their preferred grade level time slot to retrieve their items.

Please know that when students enter the building there will be a residual smell from the fire.

Coaches and sponsors will communicate regarding athletics and activities.  Another communication will be forthcoming for students participating in AP testing.

The Glenbrook School Health Center will remain closed May 5, 2023.

Sincerely,

Dr. Barbara Georges Signature
